Washington Examiner: Supreme Court transgender case may weaken suits against Trump orders
Kaelan Deese reports that if the Supreme Court rules to uphold the law at issue in United States v. Skrmetti, it “could significantly weaken lawsuits challenging President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders related to transgender procedures for minors” that rely on the 14th Amendment.
Oral Arguments
New York Times: Supreme Court Justices Appear Narrowly Divided Over Death Row Prisoner Plea for DNA Testing
Abbie VanSickle reports that on Monday the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case of Ruben Gutierrez, a Texas death row inmate who “says that newly uncovered DNA evidence proves that he did not stab an 85-year-old woman to death inside her mobile home more than two decades ago.” She notes that the justices appeared narrowly divided over the case.
USA Today: Straight woman lost two jobs to gay colleagues. Supreme Court will decide if she can sue.

General
Slate: The Supreme Court Ducked Another Big Abortion Case. Clarence Thomas Is Livid.
Mark Joseph Stern reports that on Monday the Supreme Court turned away a case challenging the “buffer zones” that “restrict protests near the entrances of reproductive health clinics.” Justices Thomas and Alito dissented, and Stern argues that despite setting up the foundation to advance anti-abortion arguments, the Court has been relatively gun-shy since Dobbs.
Slate: Trump Has Created a Terrible Catch-22 for the People Fighting Illegal Government Firings
Dahlia Lithwick speaks with Deepak Gupta, who “represents Gwynne A. Wilcox, a Joe Biden appointee who was fired via late-night email in what she claims was a violation of the National Labor Relations Act. He also represents the unions for the almost 200 CFPB employees who were fired.”
Together we can hold the Supreme Court Accountable
Equal justice in America depends on an impartial Supreme Court. Yet today, our highest court is dangerously compromised. Meant to rise above politics and interpret the Constitution with fairness, it now hosts a conservative majority that prioritizes ideology over constitutional principles—undermining individual freedoms and our democratic foundation.
Corruption, ethics scandals, and extreme political bias have cast a long shadow over its ability to safeguard rights. Critical issues like abortion, climate action, and fair elections hang in the balance. Every extreme ruling chips away at the fairness and equality our nation strives to uphold.
But hope remains. Across the nation, activists and organizations are demanding transformative reform. Congress must act now by:
Expanding the Court: Rebalance the bench with more justices.
Enforcing Term Limits: Prevent lifetime partisanship.
Instituting a Code of Ethics: Hold justices accountable.
These urgent reforms are essential to rebuild trust and ensure the Court serves all Americans—not just the powerful few.
How You Can Help:
Contact Congress: Urge your representatives to support key reforms.
Sign & Share Petitions and letter campaigns: Amplify your voice on social media.
Partner with Advocacy Groups: Join forces with organizations committed to judicial reform.
Write Op-Eds: Educate others about the urgent need for change.
Lobby & Organize: Engage with state legislators, join email campaigns, and participate in national actions.
Every decision from this Court affects our daily lives and the future of our nation. United, our voices can demand a fair and accountable Supreme Court that upholds justice for everyone. Join the fight for a better tomorrow—our democracy depends on it.
